The Reverend Donald Lee Tatum, 64, of Petersburg, passed away on Friday, July 20, 2012 at his residence. Reverend Tatum, a native of Hopewell, was the son of the late Robert Leroy Tatum and Mildred Schenck Tatum Morgan, and was a retired pastor and teacher. He was a member and deacon at Immanuel Baptist Church in Colonial Heights. He also served as a Sunday school teacher, Bible Study leader, and sang in the choir. He was very active with the Petersburg Baptist Association, serving for many years as Clerk and recently on the Nominating Committee. In the community, he served as an on-call chaplain at Southside Regional Medical Center. Reverend Tatum was a graduate of Campbell University, Southeastern Baptist Seminary, and Virginia State University. He is survived by his twin brother, Ron Tatum and wife, Scotti of Raleigh, North Carolina; one nephew, Rob Tatum and wife, Mindy of Garner, North Carolina; one niece, Lucy Tatum Austin and husband, Richard of Apex, North Carolina; a niece and nephew, Kayleigh and Andrew Tatum. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 27, 2012 in the Petersburg Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road, Petersburg with the Reverend Fred Adkins and the Reverend Robert Livesay officiating. Interment will follow in Bermuda Memorial Park, Enon. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at the funeral home.
