Donna Sue Harris

Donna Sue Harris, 70, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 16th, 2023.  She lived in South Chesterfield, VA. She was the daughter of the late Charlie Carlyle Farmer and Roburley Agnes Lowe Farmer of Tazwell, VA. She was preceded in death by her three sisters: Nancy Holthouser, Linda Henson and Lillian Ann Culler.

She was a loving wife, mother and Nana. She was survived by her loving husband, Thomas Edward “Buzzy” Harris Jr and two sons: Joseph (Kacey) Harris and Kevin (Natasha) Harris and three awesome grandchildren: Rylee, Ava and Jackson Harris. Also, one brother James (Vicki) Brown and one sister and prayer partner Rita (Eddie) Horne and numerous nephews and nieces.

Donna was born in Tazwell County, VA and moved to the Tri-City area where she worked at Fort Lee Civil Service for 8 1⁄2 years.  She left this job to be a full time mother. After her sons were older, she worked doing some substitute teaching in the Hopewell Schools. She later worked at a Christian school as a teacher’s aide. She also worked in Christian daycares and taught Bible stories, songs and scriptures. She worked in the bus ministry for a few years as well. She cherished the years she babysat her three grandchildren until they were school age. She was a member of Victory Tabernacle Church of God.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 24, 2023 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at the funeral home.
