Donna Anthony Monroe, 72, of Katy, Texas, formerly of Petersburg and Colonial Heights, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2014 surrounded by her family and friends. Born in Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late Logan and Gertrude Anthony. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and friend. Donna was a big fan of "The King", Elvis Presley. Mrs. Monroe attended 2nd Presbyterian Church in Petersburg and was a volunteer for the Westlake Volunteer Fire Department in Harris County, Texas. She is survived by her loving husband, Charles "Mackie" Monroe; daughter, Karen M. Burnett of Katy, Texas; sons, Chuck Monroe of Grifton, North Carolina, and Stephen Monroe of Walker, Louisiana; four grandsons, Charlie Monroe, David Monroe, Logan Burnett and Mikeal Monroe; sisters, Janice McGrath of Colonial Heights and Sandra Emory of Colonial Heights; a devoted niece, Moni Cannon; and numerous other nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 7, 2014 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, with Reverend Mike Murray officiating. Burial to follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg.
