Donna Simpson Newcomb, 61, of Colonial Heights/Stingray Point, set sail on the Seas of the Bay, on Friday, December 11, 2020. She was born in Charlotte, N.C. on March 16th, 1959 and spent her childhood living in various southern states. She was proud of attending Marshall University, and loved cheering on “The Thundering Herd” every chance she had. We are….MARSHALL!! It was love at first sight the night she met Timmy Newcomb and they eloped shortly after. For the next 40 years, wherever you saw Donna you saw Timmy, and wherever you saw Timmy you saw Donna. Their family was complete when their loving daughter Shannon was born in 1981. They often told her she was their favorite daughter, to which she replied "But I'm your ONLY daughter." She worked at State Farm Insurance for 10 years and was a Legal Assistant for the next 25. She was enjoying her retirement at her "Happy Place By the Bay" and spending time with her husband, family and friends. The special bond she had with her two granddaughters, Haley and Avery, was evident when you watched them together. She loved the beach with her whole soul and never missed the opportunity to capture the most beautiful sunrise pictures. She had a quick-witted personality and was loved by everyone she met. She is preceded in death by her father, William Dean Simpson. She is survived by her mother, Emma Simpson, devoted husband Timmy, loving daughter Shannon (Michael), and granddaughters Haley and Avery, her sisters Sherry Spencer (Will), Tonya Campbell (Chuck) and nieces and nephews TJ Spencer (Rachel), Courtney Mishler (Doug), and great niece and nephew Georgia Grace and Levi, brothers-in-law Keith and Kenneth Newcomb and the entire Newcomb family. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date when there is sunshine and warm weather as she would have wanted.
