Doris Delano

Doris (Evelin) Jessup Delano, 92, of Colonial Heights, Virginia went to be with the Lord on October 11, 2021. Doris was born October 21,1928 in North Carolina to Elbert and Alpha Jessup. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Alfred Delano.  She was a member of the United Methodist Church and Prospect Christian. She was a loving mother, and adored being a grandmother and great-grandmother. Doris was an avid reader and greatly enjoyed bird watching while working with her flower gardens. She most loved entertaining family; celebrations and cooking delicious faire.

Doris is survived by her children, Montgomery Burnette, Evelyn Burnette-Nieto; Joan Jackson, Sheila and Alfred Delano, Jr., daughters and sons-in-law. Grandchildren:  Brandie Marshall; Christie Robinson; Thomas Burnette; Jessica Costigan; Vaden Holloway, Jr.; Audrey Leopold, their wives and husbands and great-grandchildren, all of Virginia.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 23, 2021 in Southlawn Memorial Park, S. Prince George. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Colonial Heights Chapel of E.
