Doris Mayes

Doris Grizzard Mayes, 86, of Chesterfield, VA passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at the Lucy Corr Village Health Care Center. She was the daughter of the late James and Lessie Joyner Grizzard; and was also preceded in death by her husband, William Lester Mayes, Jr. Mrs. Mayes was retired from Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company and from Wal-Mart. She is survived by two sons, James Mayes and wife, Cathy of Prince George, VA, and Robert Mayes of Petersburg; two daughters, Roberta Ann Wright of South Chesterfield, and Shirley Cornett and husband, John of Enon; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; eight great great-grandchildren; one sister, Minnie Sue Heath; and a brother, William L. "Billy" Ferguson and wife, Eileen, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of the Clover Hill wing at Lucy Corr for their love and care shown to Mrs. Mayes. A memorial service will be held 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Interment will Private.
