Doris Whitehead

Doris B. Whitehead, 85, of Colonial Heights, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, November 22, 2018. Born on December 12, 1932 in Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late Dewitt and Annie Burnett. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Whitehead; a son, Charles "Buddy" Whitehead; a sister, Virginia Burnett Royal; and a brother, Henry Talmadge Burnett. Mrs. Whitehead was a long-standing member of Third Presbyterian Church in Petersburg, and a retired Sales Associate with JC Penney. She is survived by a son, Dwayne L. Whitehead (Joanna); a daughter, Carol W. Higgins (Tony); seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Arline Burnett Wicks and Irving Wicks; numerous loving nieces, nephews & special close friends. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 with the Reverend Lee Woodcock officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, S. Prince George, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at the funeral home.
