Doris “GiGi” Jean Neace, 86, of Colonial Heights, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2022. Born on March 31, 1936, in Roanoke, Virginia, she was the daughter to the late Elijah H Hubbard Sr. and Mermett Bosserman Hubbard. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, William “Bill” Homer Neace; her baby son, Michael Neace; sisters, Nelda Dooley, Sara “Sally” E. Gray, Dora E. Hubbard; brothers, Elijah H. Hubbard Jr., and Richard O. Hubbard; brother-in-law, Charles Lindbeck; and parents-in-law, Octavia and A.G. Neace.
Doris was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church for many years, teaching Sunday School and Bible School. She was also employed at Walmart for 23 years. Doris enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. GiGi also loved to go outside and play sports with her family. She was especially known for being blunt and having no filter- but also a strong woman of faith. Her favorite motto was “Don’t worry about it, pray about it.” She made sure to never leave home without her pink lipstick.
She is survived by her daughter, Leslie N. Neace; her son, Jeff G. Neace (Angela); grandchildren, John Livesay, Ava Victoria Catron, Sydney Nicole Catron, Reagan Mallory Catron, Kadence Jade Scott, Aden Gage Scott, Eric Neace, and Jason Neace; her great-granddaughter, Everleigh Matthews; sisters, Edna M. Andrews and Betty R. Bryant; sister-in-law, Minnie Hubbard; grand-dog’s, Jax and Reesie; and many other extended family members and special friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2022, in Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Road, S. Prince George, Virginia 23805. The family requests that ladies wear their favorite shade of lipstick to the service to honor Ms. Doris.
