Dorothy Gregory Crowder of Colonial Heights died on Monday, August 5, 2013. She was a native of Chase City, Virginia. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Colonial Heights, where she proudly sung in the Highest Praise Choir. She was a 60-year charter member and Past Matron of Chase City Chapter #147 Order of the Eastern Star. She was appointed Grand Electa 1983-84 and was appointed Grand Representative to Puerto Rico 2001-2003 by the Grand Chapter of Virginia Order of the Eastern Star. She was retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. She is survived by her husband, Harold A. Crowder; sisters, Elizabeth G. Inge of Madison Heights, Shirlee G. Seligman of Richmond; a brother, Harold Gregory of Skipwith; three nieces and two nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 8, 2013 in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 3110 Greenwood Avenue, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 with the Reverend Dr. Andy Brockelman and the Reverend Wayne Johnson officiating. Entombment will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 9, 2013 in Woodlawn Cemetery, Chase City. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Building Fund Debt Retirement. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
