Dorothy Dortch

Dorothy Sedivy Dortch, 92, of Chesterfield, VA passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Chippenham Medical Center. Born in Church Road, VA she was the daughter of the late George and Sophia Hasper Sedivy; and was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Bernard C. Dortch, Sr.; one son, Bernard C. Dortch, Jr.; a daughter, Peggy T. Tucker; two grandchildren, Tracy Coleman Neville and Jeffrey Knox Coleman; two sisters, Margaret S. Brown and Helen S. Miller; and two brothers, George F. Sedivy and John H. Sedivy. She had lived at Brandermill Woods before moving to The Crossing at Bon Air. Mrs. Dortch was a member of Ocran United Methodist Church in Sutherland and was also an associate member of Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church in Chesterfield. She had retired as a technician from Bell Atlantic and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Mrs. Dortch is survived by two children, Shirley D. Coleman and husband, Knox and William B. Dortch; eight grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Ocran United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Larry House, officiating. Burial will follow in the church yard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The family is being served by the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ocran United Methodist Church in memory of Mrs. Dortch.
