Dorothy Overbey

Dorothy Mae Overbey 86, of Colonial Heights, passed away Monday, June 19, 2017 at the Medical College of Virginia. She was born July 2, 1930 to the late Richard Calvin Maynard Sr., and Annie Mae Walker Maynard and was preceded in death by her husband, James I. Overbey Jr., and a brother, Richard Calvin Maynard Jr. Mrs. Overbey was a member of Second Chance Baptist Church in Petersburg, Virginia and a former member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Colonial Heights. She is survived by three daughters, Sharon Thomas and husband, Greg, Debra Mann, and Pamela Jarratt; two granddaughters, Christy Bowman and Whitney Jarratt; and one grandson, Timothy Bland and wife, Breck; two great-grandchildren and one sister, Elmira Alma Taylor and husband, Roland. A graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 22, 2017 in Sunset Memorial Park Chester, Virginia with the Reverend David Prather officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 21, 2107 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834.
