Dorothy Wells

Dorothy Hartman Wells, 88, of N. Dinwiddie, passed away Monday, December 28, 2020 surrounded by family and friends. She was born in Ettrick on December 19, 1932 to the late Clayton and Winifred Hartman. Ms. Wells was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church (formerly Ettrick Baptist Church). She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker whose family was her life. In addition, she loved being a babysitter for numerous children. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Gilbert Hartman, Richard Hartman, Wilbur Hartman, John Hartman and Merriel “Sissy” Fers. She is survived by her husband, Clinton Wells Jr.; daughters, Sheila Davis Champion (Gene), Pamela R. Wells, Cindy L. Evans (Charles Sr.), Linda W. Bruner (Don) and Susan A. Wells; grandchildren, Sarah E. Davis, Emily J. Davis and Charles L. Evans Jr.; twin sister, Lucy H. Clark; numerous nieces and nephews and special friends and caregivers, Tracee Garris, Yvonne Harris and Kathy Irish. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, January 1, 2021 at Matoaca Baptist Church, 6409 River Road, Matoaca, Virginia 23803. A memorial service will be held at Matoaca Baptist Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2021. Interment at Southlawn Memorial Park will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Matoaca Baptist Church.
