Douglas Burden

January 29, 1956 — July 10, 2015

Douglas Wayne "Dougie, Doug, Huggie" Burden, 59, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2015 at McGuire VA Medical Center in Richmond. He was the son of the late Ronald and Thelma Hackworth Burden, and was preceded in death by a brother, Vance Burden. Mr. Burden was a United States Coast Guard veteran, and Facilities Maintenance Superintendent for FMWR at Fort Lee. He is survived by family and friends, Mary Jo "Hardhead" Burden; his daughter; Brooke "Brookachell Monstertater;" son, Tony "Bubba" (Melissa); daughter, Kelly "Stinkerpot" (Austin); grandchildren, Clayton, Allison, and Madilyn; brother, Jim (Cindy) and a sister, Bev (Clyde); special friends, Richard "My Buddy" Tammy "Darlin", Zebo, Bill, Rob, Bully, Scott and Don Allen; and too many more to mention that were a part of his life and were considered all his family. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2015 at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens, 11302 Merchants Hope Road, Hopewell, Virginia 23860. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, July 16, 2015 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Fisher House Foundation, 111 Rockville Pike, Suite 420, Rockville, Maryland 20850. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
