Douglas Johnson Sr.

Douglas Gene Johnson Sr., 75, of Chester, passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at his residence. Born in Bristol, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Hubert L. and Nannie Henley Johnson. Mr. Johnson attended Chester Christian Church, was a veteran in the United States Marine Corp. and was a current employee, a Postal Clerk of 55 years, with the Sandston Postal Service (Main Post Office). Gene loved playing country and gospel music, and golfing with his sons. He is survived by his wife Peggy Jo Johnson; two sons, Douglas Gene Johnson Jr. and wife, Kimberly and Mark Alan Johnson and wife, Christina all of Chester; six grandchildren, Kaylin Johnson, Austin Johnson, Sydney Johnson, Hunter Johnson, Josh Thomas and Jake Thomas; a sister-in-law, Jewel Johnson of Bristol, Tennessee; numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 22, 2011 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Neil Wheeler officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
