Douglas Lee Vaughan, 90, of Colonial Heights passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025. Born December 20, 1934, he was the son of the late Margie Butler and Lenard Carl Vaughan and was also preceded in death by his first wife, Levon Vaughan; second wife, Janet Vaughan; daughters, Pamela Vaughan, Janet Darlene Hess; sisters, Marion Fable, Frances Walmsley, Ellen Benfield; and brothers, Gordon Vaughan, Bobby Vaughan.
He was a longtime member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. He retired after 42 years of committed service to Allied Chemical, now known as AdvanSix.
Douglas had a lifelong passion for baseball and enjoyed watching the games on TV. He also loved the tranquility of fishing, finding peace by the water with a rod in hand. A true shopaholic, he always had an eye for a great find and enjoyed purchasing things for those he loved. More than anything, Douglas treasured time spent with his family.
He is survived by his son, Douglas Lee Vaughan, Jr. and wife, Kim; grandchildren, Robert Hess, Jason Hess and wife, Tracey, Carl Hess and wife, Casey, Carlie Vaughan; multiple beloved great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 7, 2025 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Interment will be private. Online condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
