Dr. Luciano Guadalupe-Rivera

Our beloved father, Dr. Luciano Guadalupe-Rivera, ascended to God’s kingdom on January 29, 2022 at just 61 years of age.

Luciano was born to the late Luciano Guadalupe and the late Anna Guadalupe-Rivera in Humacao, Puerto Rico. He is an alumnus of La Universidad del Sagrado Corazón in Santurce, Puerto Rico and La Universidad Católica Nordestana School of Medicine in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Luciano served as the Director of Medical Services for the Division of Police in Puerto Rico and an attending physician at various hospitals in the San Juan metropolitan area. He later became a Certified Correctional Healthcare Professional as a Physician and served over 20 years as an Infectious Diseases and Health Systems Specialist for the US Department of Justice Federal Bureau of Prisons in Pennsylvania, Virginia, South Carolina, and Kentucky.

Throughout his life, Luciano was a faithful and passionate follower of Christ who loved all unconditionally. In 1985, he married the love of his life, Lizbeth Guadalupe, with whom he raised three adoring children. In addition to being a loving father and husband, Luciano served in Pastoral roles at multiple Spanish language congregations, most recently at New Life Outreach International in Chesterfield, Virginia. Luciano was a gregarious and joyful father, relative, and friend to countless individuals. His hospitality, sincerity, and genuine warmth lit up any room he occupied. He was an avid boating and automotive aficionado who loved including anyone he could in his many great adventures.

He was survived by his wife Lizbeth Guadalupe, children Dr. Xavier Luciano Guadalupe-Diaz (Brian), Emanuel Jesus Guadalupe (Yhanni), and Lizbeth Ann Guadalupe, his sister Lucia Guadalupe-Rivera and brothers Alberto Guadalupe (Sheila) and Joaquin Guadalupe (Marta) and countless more friends and family.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. The family will receive friends before the service from 12:00 - 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. Interment will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 7, 2022 in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens, 11302 Merchants Hope Road, N. Prince George, VA 23860.
