Earl Collie

Earl "Wayne" Collie, 78, of Colonial Heights, VA passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, July 30, 2016. Born in Halifax County, VA, he was the son of the late John Earl and Mary Ellen Brandon Collie and was preceded in death by his sister Kathleen Collie Cobb and his brother Kermit Collie. An avid rabbit hunter who enjoyed spending time outdoors with his friends and beagles, Wayne was a U.S. Army veteran who retired as a dedicated employee of VDOT in 1991. Mr. Collie is survived by his loving wife of over fifty years, Shelby Jean Cox Collie; his daughter, Sheryl Collie Turner and her husband, Chuck of Dinwiddie; and two grandchildren, Ashlyn and Lane Turner; with several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Calvary United Methodist Cemetery, 2194 Calvary Road, Alton, VA 24520, with the Rev. Billy Hedrick officiating.
