Earl Dunning

November 3, 1943 — April 30, 2011

Earl J. Dunning entered into the arms of the Lord on Saturday, April 30, 2011. Born in Northampton County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late C. Judson and Margaret Brown Dunning. Earl was a faithful and devoted servant of Christ in Immanuel Baptist Church. He was a veteran with the United States Coast Guard, and retired from DuPont as a Preventative Maintenance Specialist. He is survived by his wife, Maxine R. Dunning; a daughter, Jennifer Y. Baker and husband, David of Mechanicsville; a son, Samuel Brian Dunning and wife, Dawn of Currituck, North Carolina; six grandchildren, Austin, Andrew, Alex, and Ashby Baker, Ainsley and Shannon Dunning; two brothers, Charles E. Dunning of Neenah, Wisconsin, and Jerry B. Dunning of Charlotte, North Carolina. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2011 in Immanuel Baptist Church, 620 Lafayette Avenue, Colonial Heights, with the Reverend Fred Adkins officiating. Interment will follow in Merchant's Hope Cemetery, Prince George. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church Building or Missions Funds.
