Earl Wells

Earl Lee "Marlboro Man" Wells, 78, of Dewitt, passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2010. He was the son of the late Stonewall and Mary Lee Wells, and was preceded in death by a son, Donald Earl Wells. He was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church, and retired form Phillip Morris Tobacco Company. Mr. Wells is survived by his loving wife, Katherine Howerton Wells; two sons, Larry Wade Wells and wife, Cathy of Powhatan, Marty L. Wells of Dewitt; ten grandchildren, Josh, Scott, Trevor, Zack, Donnie, Eva, Austin, Sydney, Preston, and Dallas; a sister, Louise Archer of Chester; a brother, Nelson Wells of Emporia; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 2, 2010 at Smyrna Baptist Church, 18725 Carson Road, Dinwiddie, Va. 23841 with the Reverend Robert L. Rowland III officiating. Burial to follow in Rocky Run United Methodist Church Cemetery, Dewitt. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday (tonight) at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Flowers are welcome or contributions may be made to the Smyrna Baptist Church.
