Eddie Gilbert

Eddie Joe Gilbert, U. S. Air Force (Ret.), 78, of Petersburg, passed away on July 10, 2015 at Southside Regional Medical Center. Born in Kentucky, he was the son of the late Henry and Rutha Lee Gilbert and was also preceded in death by his brother, Kevin Gilbert; and sister, Realma Hayes and husband, Warren. He was a retired veteran of the U. S. Air Force of 26 years and later on was Chief of Supply and Services at Ft. Lee. Mr. Gilbert is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Ethel Ray Gilbert; sons, Ronald Gilbert and wife, Sibylle, Edward Gilbert and wife, Anjanette, and Juan Gilbert; daughters, Rene Turner and husband, Ronald, and Sandra White; brothers, Simmie Washington and wife, Sarah, and Calvin Washington and wife Carol; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2015 at the Crater Road Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road.
