Edith Muriel Williams Boyd, 86, of Chester, VA passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at her residence. Born on August 4, 1929 in North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late David Elbridge Williams and Ruth Jane Smith Williams and was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Hubert Stanley Boyd of 37 years and a sister, Edna Gore Carr. Mrs. Boyd had retired from Chesterfield County after 43 years of service as a dedicated school bus driver. She was a longtime member of Swift Creek Baptist Church in Colonial Heights. Mrs. Boyd is survived by her three loving daughters, Linda Reese and husband, Johnny, Janice Keyser and husband, Raymond Jr., and Catherine Gettings and husband, Claiborne Jr.; her loving companion, David Brooks; eleven grandchildren, Christine Barnes, Edith Terry, Tracy Helmich and husband, Robbie, Stanley Keyser and wife, Lori, Timothy Keyser, Brian Keyser, April Shifflett and husband, Robert, Shannon Barker, Denise Drewry; April Gettings and Claiborne Gettings, III ; twenty great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Elsie and Bob Jones and numerous nieces, nephews and loving friends. A special thanks and appreciation for all the love and special care you gave our mother to Crater Community Hospice, especially Teresa Sumrell, Tina, Mrs. Grace and Bonita. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834, with the Rev. Dr. Steve Felker officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at the funeral home.
