Edith Dance Hogue, 92, of Colonial Heights, formerly of Hopewell, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at John Randolph Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late Joe and Bertha Belcher Dance, and the widow of Henry C. Hogue Sr. USAF (ret). She was preceded in death by two sisters, Myrtle Mayes & Lillie Watson and two brothers, Herbert Dance Sr. & Joe Dance. Mrs. Hogue was a former member of Western Heights Baptist Church, a member of Calvary Baptist Church, and the Hopewell Chapter of AARP. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia H. Poole and husband, Michael F. of Colonial Heights; two sons, David Wayne Hogue and wife, Becky of Lanexa, Virginia, and Henry C. Hogue Jr. and wife, Carolyn of Sutherland; a step-son, Marvin F. Hogue and wife, Cathy and family; grandchildren, Tracey Poole Newsom and husband, Marty of Chesterfield, Michael Kevin Poole and wife, Sara N. of Prince George, Donnie Hogue and wife, Stephanie of Colonial Heights, Doug Hogue and wife, Terrah of Lanexa, Lisa Hogue of Lanexa, and David Hogue and wife, Karen of Barhamsville, Virginia; six great-grandchildren, Garrett Poole, Jessica Newsom, Dalton Hogue, Meagan Bailey, Mikayla Hogue, and Paisley Hogue; a sister, Gertrude Brooks of Dinwiddie; numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 29, 2011 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Mark Hollingsworth officiating. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg.
