Edith M. Jefferson, 88, of Chester, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2014. Born June 18, 1925 in Fairmont, West Virginia she was the daughter of the late Frank C. and Bessie Shaw Duvall, and the widow of Mont James Jefferson. She was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Florence C. Duvall; and a niece, Lynn C. Duvall. Mrs. Jefferson retired in 1981 as a Civil Service employee with the Defense General Supply Center, Richmond, Virginia. She is survived by her loving daughter, Rebecca L. "Becky" Jefferson of Guilford, Connecticut and Chester, Virginia; a brother, Harold S. "Deacon" Duvall and wife, Joan of Fairmont, West Virginia; a niece, Susan Duvall Mauro of Alpharetta, Georgia; two great-nieces; and a great-nephew all of Atlanta, Georgia; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Jefferson of Arlington, Virginia and Virginia Lee Morgan of Dayton, Ohio; and numerous nieces & nephews in the Jefferson family. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday May 15, 2014 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with Pastor Michael Moore, Enon Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, Virginia.
