Edith M. Porter, 93, of Matoaca, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2015 at Southside Regional Medical Center. Born in Petersburg, Virginia she was the daughter of the late Michael and Martha Butler Mariniak, the widow of Franklin G. Porter, and was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Mariniak. Mrs. Porter was a member of Second Baptist in Petersburg, Immanuel Baptist in Colonial Heights, and The Master's Table in Petersburg. She is survived by two sons, George Porter of Colonial Heights and Richard Porter and wife, Sherron Diane of Macon, Georgia; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 13, 2015 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Dr. Nancy C. Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery Petersburg, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, February 12, 2015 at the funeral home.
