Edith Thompson Edith Marston Thompson, 74, of Dinwiddie, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2017 at her residence. Born in Dinwiddie County, she was the daughter of the late John Robert Marston Jr and Ida Guthrie Marston, and was the widow of Wiley Post Brintley, Sr. and James Lewis Thompson, Jr.; She was preceded in death by three sisters, Marie Janet Houston, Shirley Ann Mayton, and Judy Kay Washington. Mrs. Thompson was the owner and operator of McKenney Florist and Gifts and Ida's Crafts, for over thirty-three years. Edith is survived by her son, Wiley Post Brintley, Jr. (Bonnie) of Providence Forge, VA; daughter, Tracy Brintley Gill of McKenney; grandsons, Zachary Meade Gill and Allen Wayne Lee (Crystal); brothers, Robert Marston (Joyce) of McKenney, VA, Jerry Marston of Lawrenceville, VA, Betty Harmon of Warrenton, NC, Sally Lewis (Charles) of Baskerville, VA, and Patricia Lancaster (Bobby) of Jacksonville, FL, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at the Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Rd, Petersburg, VA 23805 at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday September 13, 2017, with the Reverends Karen Workman and Alex Williams officiating. Interment to follow at 3:00 p.m. at Asbury Church Cemetery Boydton Plank Rd, McKenney, VA. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
