Edith A. Vaughan, 82, of Dinwiddie, VA passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Southside Regional Medical Center. Born in Dinwiddie, VA she was the daughter of the late Sterling M. and Ada Pearl Joyner Vaughan; and was also preceded in death by a brother, Sterling M. Vaughan, Jr.; and one sister, Lucille King. Mrs. Vaughan was a longtime member of Western Heights Baptist Church. She had retired from the banking industry, the State of Virginia, and most recently from WAL-MART. Mrs. Vaughan is survived by her one daughter, Vickie Spivey and husband, Danny of Franklin, VA; one grandson, James L. Spivey and wife, Gin of Franklin, VA; four great-grandchildren, Tyler Spivey, Jordan, Graysen and Aaron Doughtie; one sister, Zelma Conlee and husband, Don; other close family members, Kenneth L. Williams, Audrey W. Brooks and Josephine Joyner; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834 with the Rev. Jonathan Dundalow, officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 28, 2016 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Western Heights Baptist Church, 24416 Cox Rd., N. Dinwiddie, VA 23803. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com
