Edith Waldron Wood, 98, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 13, 2017, at 9:02 p.m. She is survived by her son, C. Edward Jordan, Jr. and her daughter, Joyce Jordan Cochran; her eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Edith was a loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She provided personal care for both her mother-in-law and her own mother in their final years. Together with her husband, the late Joseph Wood, she served the community by delivering meals on wheels to the elderly and disabled. An excellent seamstress, she crafted beautiful quilts that are treasured by three generations of the family. In recent years, Edith helped make colorful baby blankets for Newborns in Need right up to the day of her passing. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 18, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834, with the Reverend Doctor Andy Brockelman officiating. Interment will follow at Blandford Cemetery, 319 South Crater Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23803. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 18, 2017, at the funeral home. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
