Edward Perkins Iii

Edward Archer "Dookie" Perkins III, 82 of Colonial Heights, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2012. He was the son of the late Edward Archer Perkins II, and Mary Stewart Perkins. Mr. Perkins was a United States Army Veteran. He retired from Allied Chemical and was a life member of the Colonial Heights Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of the Colonial Heights American Legion Post 284. He is survived by his wife, Betty J. Perkins; daughter Vanessa G. Perkins of Colonial Heights, Nancy W. Ronkartz and husband, John of Colonial Heights, Susan P. Jarvis and husband, Brian of Colonial Heights; six grandsons, Matt Ronkartz, Justin Underwood, Brandon Jarvis, Caleb Reese, Kyle Ronkartz, and Owen Jarvis all of Colonial Heights; four granddaughters, Emily Underwood of Texas, Lindsey Boisseau of Sutherland, Meredith Reese, and Rachel Reese of Colonial Heights; two great-grandchildren, Devin and Hailey Kachauskas of Sutherland. A funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 6, 2012 at Woodlawn Baptist Church, 3120 Woodlawn Avenue Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 with the Reverend Dr. John P. Mason officiating. Interment will follow with military honors at Southlawn Memorial Park Prince George, Virginia. An American Legion Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday April 5, 2012 with visitation to follow until 8:30 P.M. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard. Flowers are welcomed or contributions may be made to the Colonial Heights Fire and EMS, P.O. Box 3401, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834.
