Elaine Wade Womack, 80, of Matoaca passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023. Born on August 1, 1942, she was the beloved daughter of the late Kenneth Rash and Elsie Addy Oliver Wade, and was also preceded in death by an infant son; and sister, Lillian Wade Wright.

 

Elaine was a woman of unwavering faith and dedication, and her involvement in both the Ettrick United Methodist Church and Matoaca Baptist Church was a testament to her commitment to her spiritual journey. Her warm and welcoming nature made her a beloved member of both congregations.

 

For many years, she served as a dedicated secretary at Petersburg Box and Lumber Co. before retiring. Additionally, she worked as a cook at The Bowling Alley in Colonial Heights.

 

Elaine owned a shop at the Ivy in Colonial Heights. She was also an active participant in numerous clubs and organizations. She was a proud member of the Matoaca Women's Club, where she contributed her time and efforts to various community projects. As a devoted alumna of Petersburg High School, she played an integral role in the class of 1960's Reunion Committee, ensuring that her fellow classmates maintained strong bonds over the years. She also supported youth athletics as a member of the Matoaca & Ettrick Athletic Association, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of young athletes.

 

Elaine's community involvement extended to fraternal organizations as well. She was a valued member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Petersburg #882, where she participated in charitable initiatives and fostered camaraderie among fellow members.

 

She is survived by her loving husband, Gene Autry Womack; daughters, Cheryl Womack Justice (Richard), Rebecca Womack Williamson (Mike); grandchildren, Shannon Henry (Phillip), Michelle Justice, William Tyler Benson (Genevieve), Tori Benson; great-grandchildren, Laurel, Liam, Kian & Kiley Ann Henry; sister, Louise Wade Wamsley, Carol Wade Wrenn (David); devoted best friends, Shadow & Fluffy; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

 

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011, or the Dementia Society of America, PO Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Online condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
