Eleonore George

Eleonore George, 97, of Colonial Heights passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024. Born in Frankfurt, Germany on August 1, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Willy A. and Bertha Roth Michel and was also preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, ret. SGT Major Harold Bruce George; beloved sister-in-law, Ruth "Teeny" George; and beloved neighbor, Tommy Crockett.

Eleonore has been a cherished resident of the Tri-City area since 1952. Her dedication to the community is reflected in her long-standing involvement with various organizations. Since 1972, she has been an esteemed member of the German-Speaking Damenklub in Petersburg. Additionally, she actively participated in the Colonial Heights Optimist Club and proudly held lifetime memberships with the VFW Auxiliary Post 2239 and the Colonial Heights SPCA. Eleonore was also a valued member of the 50 or Better Club at Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by a special niece, Norma-Jean Wludyka; and other nieces and nephews of West Pittston, PA; special friends, Wanda Thacker Bennett and her husband, Mark, and their daughter, Erica Bennett; and dearly loved neighbor, Agnes Crockett.

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, September 9, 2024 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be held in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
