Elijha Thornton Perkins 82, of Colonial Heights, passed away Friday, September 27, 2019 at McGuire VA Hospital in Richmond. He was born January 13, 1937 in Farmville Virginia to the late Wilbur E. T. and Dolly Viola Harris Perkins and was preceded in death by his wife Rosalie Long Perkins, a brother William M. Perkins and a great-grandson Jayden Wayne Simmons. Mr. Perkins was a United States Army veteran, and he served in the Far East and Alaska. He was a member of the Iron Workers Union and a retired Truck Driver. Mr. Perkins is survived by three sons Steven F. Perkins and wife Cathy, of Disputanta, Jeffrey T. Perkins and wife, Stacy of S. Chesterfield and Gary L. Perkins of Chesterfield; grandchildren Hollie Perkins, Valerie S. Perkins, Rusty L, Perkins, three sisters, Mildred V. Perkins Pearson of Jamesville, North Carolina, Tiny Pearl Perkins Jenkins, of Newmarket, Virginia, Jennie Leigh Perkins Fellows of Frankfort, Delaware, sister-in-law, Lynn Long Norton, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday , October 1, 2019 at Wards Chapel Cemetery 7818 Namozine Road Crewe, Virginia 23930. The family will receive friends Monday, September 30, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E.
