Elizabeth Burton

Elizabeth Morris Burton, 94, of Colonial Heights passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2018. Born August 14, 1924, she was the eldest daughter of the late Robert Byron Morris and Esther Louise Burrows Morris, and was also preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Charles Fredrick Burton; and sisters, Florine Morris Hinceman, Marie Morris Compston and Jean Laverne Morris Powell. Elizabeth was a past Matron of Alpha Chapter #1 Eastern Star, Petersburg, VA and a member of the original Colonial Heights Baptist Church. She graduated in 1942 from John Marshall High School in Richmond, VA. She is survived by her son, Charles Wayne Burton of St. Mary's, GA; daughter, Shaaron Louise Burton Jefferson (Larry) of Prince George, VA; two granddaughters, Stacey Elizabeth Traylor Meyer (Brad) of Prince George, VA, Christine M. Traylor Ramsey (Billy) of Disputanta, VA; two grandsons, Scott R. Burton (Irene) of Los Lunas, NM, Craig M. Burton (Tracey) of Saugus, CA; seven great-grandchildren, who she called "Her Angels", Morgan Elizabeth Meyer, Haley M. Ramsey, Kaysea N. Ramsey, Preston Ramsey, Caleb Meyer, Noah and Max Burton; half-brother, Robert B. Morris, Jr. of Richmond, VA; a niece, several nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank Mrs. Burton's devoted friends for their special love and care of their mother. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, with the Reverend Craig Buxton officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, S. Prince George, VA. The family will receive friends an hour before the service on Saturday from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
