Elizabeth Carr

Irene Elizabeth Dean Carr, 79, born in Hopewell, VA on May 16, 1934 passed away peacefully early Monday morning at Colonial Heights Health Care Center. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, John Edward "Slim" and Emily Irene (Puryear) Dean, and her brother, Edward Dean. She is survived by her brothers, Johnny and Lewis Dean; and her sister, Barbara Cundiff and their families. She is also survived by her son, Robert "Butch" Carr Jr.; her daughter, Deborah "Debbie" King and their families; including her 3 grandchildren. Elizabeth selflessly dedicated 50 of her 79 years to caring for her daughter with Down syndrome, Cheryl Ann Carr, who also preceded her in death. Elizabeth is now called Home so that she and Cheryl may be together once again. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2014 in the Colonial Heights Church of the Nazarene, 601 Ellerslie Avenue, Colonial Heights, Virginia 28334 with the Reverend Mike Lamphire officiating. Burial will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:30 p.m. Thursday, January 9, 2014 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E.
