Elizabeth Gwaltney

July 2, 1922 — August 14, 2015

Elizabeth Lawson Gwaltney, 93, Chesterfield, formerly of Colonial Heights, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2015 at Magnolias of Chesterfield Assisted Living Center. Born in South Hill, she was the daughter of the late Bruce H. and Laura Blackburn Lawson. Mrs. Gwaltney was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Wallace Gwaltney Sr. and a daughter, Sandra G. DeLong. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church. She is survived by a son, Marvin Wallace Gwaltney Jr. and wife, Gayle of Oregon; a daughter, JoAnne G. Reams and husband, Scott of Chester; grandchildren, Michael Gwaltney, Laura Farrell, Ryan Gwaltney, Russell DeLong, and Justin Gwaltney; and eight great-grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2023 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 with the Reverend Dr. Leonard Saunders and the Reverend David Prather officiating. Entombment to follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, August 17, 2015 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Salem Baptist Church Building Fund, 5930 Centralia Road, N. Chesterfield, Virginia 23237 or a charity of your choice.
