Elizabeth “Bette” Kraus, 81, of Mooresville, North Carolina, formerly of Colonial Heights, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 25, 2021 surrounded by loved ones. Born in Queens, New York on July 20, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Joan Klinker and was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, John Donald Kraus. In 2001, she suffered the loss of her cherished daughter, Barbara Ann Kraus.
Elizabeth was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Mooresville, North Carolina. For over 20 years, Bette worked for Boulevard Flower Gardens as a manager and floral designer. Since her retirement in North Carolina, her passion was spending many hours in her beautiful yard and turning it into an exquisite masterpiece year after year. Bette also loved watching and feeding many birds, especially the hummingbirds.
She is survived by her devoted siblings, Robert Klinker and wife, Judy of Esperance, New York and Fred Klinker and wife, Mary of Mooresville, North Carolina and Kathryn Guercio and her late husband, Mark Satenstein of Long Island, New York; and many loving nieces, nephews and adoring great-nieces and nephews. Bette was blessed with many wonderful friends. She will truly be missed by her loving and devoted cat, “Charlie”.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 2, 2021 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday November 1, 2021 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bette’s memory to the American Parkinson Disease Association, P.O. Box, 61420 Staten Island, NY 10306.
