Elizabeth Vaughan

Elizabeth "Liz" Curtis Vaughan, 90 of Chester, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Southside Regional Medical Center. She was born July 17, 1923 in Southampton County, Virginia to the late Samuel E. and Nellie Marian Carter Whitfield and was preceded in death by her husbands Frank R. Curtis Jr., and Leslie C. Vaughan and one brother Robert C. Beale Sr.. Mrs. Vaughan was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Colonial Heights. She worked at Colonial Heights Junior High School as a cashier for 27 years. She is survived by her daughter, Kay Curtis Freeman and husband, Jay of Petersburg; brother William R. Beale and wife, Brenda of Chesterfield; sister Dorothy Ann Richardson of Colonial Heights, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Barbara Adams for the health care she provided for Mrs. Vaughan. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 7, 2014 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Ray Haskett and the Reverend Gerald Miller officiating . Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park Chester, Virginia. The family will receive friends Sunday, April 6, 2014 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
