Elizabeth Williams

Elizabeth Long Williams, 93, passed into eternal rest on Sunday, October 16, 2011, after a brief illness. She was born on August 5, 1918 in Tarboro, North Carolina, the first child of Charles Roosevelt Long and Margaret Lenora Brown Long. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Colonial Heights, and the Order of the Eastern Star Alpha Chapter #1. Elizabeth will be remembered as a loving wife and mother, generously giving of herself through her lifetime to family and friends alike. She exhibited Christian faith and love toward all she met. She will be greatly missed. Elizabeth was predeceased in 2000 by her husband of sixty years, James Moody Williams. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Elizabeth Williams Walker (Robert) of Colonial Heights, and Joyce Marie Williams Bell (Robert, deceased) of Elberon; a son, James Moody Williams Jr. (Ann) of Jacksonville, Florida; three granddaughters, Lou Ann Elizabeth Bell Bradley (Ray) of Richmond, Tammi Marie Williams Senavitis (Mark) of Ashland, and Lauren-Leigh Elizabeth Walker (fiancé, Brian Sterowski) of Richmond; two grandsons, Robert Henry Bell Jr. (Susan) of Austin, Texas and James Moody Williams III (Lois) of Salisbury, North Carolina; and five great-grandchildren. Of eleven adult children in her family she is survived by two sisters, Mary Alice Spillman of Tarboro and Carolyn Ann Whitehurst of Wilmington, North Carolina; and two brothers, James Milton Long (Barbara) and Bobby Allen Long (Carolyn) all of Tarboro; numerous much-loved nieces, nephews and extended family members. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 20, 2011 in Southlawn Memorial Park & Mausoleum, Prince George with the Reverend Dr. John Long officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are sent to the Colonial Heights Fire & EMS, P.O. Box 3401, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834.
