Ellen Perdue

Ellen Hitchcock Perdue passed away Monday, July 27, 2015 in her home at the Petersburg Home for Ladies. She was 94 years old. Mrs. Perdue was a long time resident of Dinwiddie County and Petersburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Anderson "Andy" Perdue; her parents, Heath and Beatrice Rainey Hitchcock; her brothers, Orville Heath "Billy" Hitchcock and William Rainey Hitchcock; her sister, Ann H. Cleaton; her half-sisters, Florence H. Herman, Ruby H. Simpson, and Virginia H. Tyus. Mrs. Perdue was a member of Matoaca Baptist Church for most of her life and recently a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church in Dinwiddie. Ellen is survived by her son, Thomas Bolling "Bo" Perdue and his wife, Dianne "Dee" of Mechanicsville; and her daughter, Ellen P. "Andie" Jones and her husband, Bill of Dinwiddie; five grandchildren, Miles Perdue (Kim), Taylor M. Jenkins (Brian), Ashley J. O'Dell (John), Kimberly Jones, and Lauren J. Davis (Al); and eight great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2015 with Pastor Tim Brinkley officiating at the Petersburg Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935. S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23805. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 30, 2015 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Crater Community Hospice, 3916 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23805 or to the Petersburg Home for Ladies Foundation, 311 S. Jefferson Street, Petersburg, Virginia 23803. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
