Elmer Howard Thompson Jr., 71 of Colonial Heights went to be with the Lord, Tuesday July 1, 2008 at Southside Regional Medical Center. He was the son of the late Elmer Howard Sr., and Ida Troxell Thompson. Mr. Thompson worked many years as an auto mechanic, and was a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife Shirley A. Thompson, daughters, Linda Childress, Janet Farrell, son Elmer Howard Thompson III, grandchildren, Lisa Harvie, Amy Hartman, Carrie Walker, two great grandchildren Faith Hartman, Madelyn Harvie, brothers Glad Thompson , Pete Thompson, sisters Rosemary Bryant, Beth Johnson, Crystal Alfred, and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Monday July 7, 2008 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard with the Pastor Arthur Lands officiating. Burial will take place Tuesday 1:00 p.m. at Fletcher Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery Covington Virginia.
