Elsie Waskey

Elsie Mae (Granny) Waskey, 89, of Newport News, formerly of Colonial Heights, passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2012 Born in Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Sam D. and Lunette Mayton Harlow. She was preceded in death by two sons, Clarence Edward (Eddie) Waskey and Peyton D. Waskey. Mrs. Waskey retired with 25 years of service from Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company. She is survived by a daughter, Laura W. Haskins of Newport News; grandchildren, Michael Scott Hathcock Jr., Bradley Peterson, Christine Peterson, and Jenny Waskey; two sisters, Shirley Fuller and husband, Robert, Helen Wynn and husband, Frank; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family. Granny was a wonderful mother and grandmother and will be truly missed by all who knew her. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 5, 2012 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with Pastor Jason Elmore officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
