Elta Garland

Elta I. Garland, age 91 of Churchroad, VA , formally of Middlesboro, passed away Friday, March 13 2009 at her daughters home in Dinwiddie, VA. She was born January 23, 1918 at St. Charles VA, a daughter of the late Henry and Mattie Goins Rose. She was a homemaker most of her life and was a faithful member and caretaker of the Fonde Baptist Church, Fonde, KY. She was preceded in death by her Husband; Raymond " Bee " Garland in 1986, a daughter ; Fay Etta Cadle in 1993, and a son; Richard Garland in 2005. She is survived by her children; Kathy (George) Brooks, Church Road, VA, Wayne (Jean) Garland, Swanton, Ohio, Kenneth Garland, Buffalo, TN, Judy (Bobby) Lowe, Wichita Falls, TX, Sisters; Bernice Prater, FL, and Wilma Davis, Tazewell, TN, Fourteen Grandchildren, and several Great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 1 pm Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at the Fonde Baptist Church, Fonde, KY. Burial will follow at the Green Hills Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Monday, March 16 from 6-8 pm at the Shumate Funeral Home Chapel. Local arrangements where handled by the Colonial Heights Chapel of E.
