Emily Louise Kitchen, "95 and a half", of Colonial Heights, VA passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2017. Born August 18, 1921 in Petersburg, VA, she was the daughter of the late Russell L. and Helen Lloyd Carter Whitaker; and was also preceded in death in 2002 by her husband of 62 years, Raymond W. Kitchen; infant twin daughters, Pearl and Patricia Kitchen; three siblings, Ruth Williams, Cecil Mae Wall and Russell Whitaker; a great-granddaughter, Crystal Wheeler; and two step-grandchildren. Louise was a devout member of Crosslight Assembly of God. She is survived by her three children, Brenda K. Redfern (Thomas) of Petersburg, Raymond W. (Butch) Kitchen, Jr. of Prince George and Helen Joy Apodaca (Max) of Colonial Heights; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and one on the way; five great-great-grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 10 step great-grandchildren; and 19 step great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. All services were private. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
