Emily Shell

Emily L. Shell, 87, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Southside Regional Medical Center. Born in Chesterfield, she was the daughter of the late William E. and Lottie Miles Elder, the widow of Richard Madison Shell, and was preceded in death by two sons, Richard Wayne Shell and Dennis Madison Shell. She was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church, Colonial Heights. Mrs. Shell is survived by a brother, Charles F. Elder of Chester; four sisters, Bernice Bennett of Chester, Virginia Morman, Jean Vinson, and June Williams all of Colonial Heights; a granddaughter, Meagan Shell of Chester; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday January 7, 2012 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Dr. John Mason officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
