Emmett Bryant Jr.

September 8, 1943 — July 29, 2015

Emmett C. "Bubba" "Squirrel" Bryant Jr., 71, of Colonial Heights, also known to many others as "Papaw" went to rest in The Lord on Wednesday, July 29, 2015. He passed at his residence at 8:13 a.m. surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his father, Emmett Clifton Bryant Sr.; mothers, Annie D. Bryant and Lessie Boyette; two brothers, Johnny Bryant and Mills Boyette; and a sister, Ruth Snowdy. Mr. Bryant retired from William T. Cantrell Inc. in Midlothian, and was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Colonial Heights. Emmett loved The Lord and shared his love and mercy with everyone. He poured his whole life into his work and family which gave him the greatest joy. Emmett is cherished by all who were blessed to be a part of his life. He leaves a legacy of love firmly transplanted from his heart to ours and will be missed by many. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 42 years, Madonna Hall Bryant; daughter, Christina Marie Parrish and husband, Eric of Colonial Heights; grandchildren, Tyler Gene Parrish and Alyssa Marie Parrish; brothers, Frank Bryant of Hopewell, Joe Boyette of Petersburg, Jake Boyette of Hopewell and Richard Boyette of Hopewell; sisters, Naomi Jenkins of Hopewell, and Rachel Rollins of Hopewell; numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved pet, Lola. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 4, 2015 in Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, 3110 Greenwood Avenue, Colonial Heights Virginia 23834 with the Reverend Kenneth Hendricks and Sunday School Teacher, Andy Coon officiating. Interment will follow in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens, Prince George, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, August 3, 2015 at E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. A very special thanks to Gentiva Hospice and also to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Physical Therapy Department at CJW Chippenham Medical Center.
