Emmit Clarke

Emmit W. Clarke, 90, of Dinwiddie, died Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at McGuire Veterans Medical Center. He was the son of the late John Richard and Lennie Gray Clarke. Mr. Clarke was a United States Army Veteran of W.W. II and a member of Dinwiddie Baptist Church. Emmit is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 70 years Florence M. Clarke; two daughters, Lenn Brewer and husband, Calvin, Betty Moore and husband, Joe; a son; Jesse " Bill" Maitland and wife, Shelby; grandchildren, Ronnie Brewer and wife, Janet, Lonnie Moore and wife, Theresa, Jeffery Moore and wife, Sue, Dana Bassett and husband, Byron; eight great grandchildren; one brother, Caulthrope Clarke and numerous relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 11, 2009 in the Petersburg Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home and Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road, with the Reverend George Murphy officiating. Internment Southlawn Memorial Park Prince George, Virginia. The family will receive friends Thursday, September 10, 2009 (tonight) from 7- 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
