Era Young Walker

Era Juanita (Young) Walker, 92, of South Chesterfield, VA, passed from her earthly life on Friday, February 21, 2025, with family at her side. Era was born in Chase City, VA on August 5, 1932, and moved to Chesterfield in 1944. She worked numerous jobs, including Dupont, Mack's, T L Davis Garage, CCPS Cafeteria, harvesting tobacco, and babysitter, among others. Era was active with her church, and was a gardener of vegetables, fruits and flowers. She also volunteered with the 4-H Club, and was a member of the Home Demonstration club, the Golden Years club, and the Friendship club. She was a faithful friend and neighbor helping friends and family. She was a seamstress and housekeeper. Her cooking and meals were greatly enjoyed by many.

She was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, William "Billy" Walker; her granddaughter, Tara Meredith Welch; parents, George and Onie (Williamson) Young; siblings, Chester (Ercell), George (Audrey), Edna ("Red"), and Yancey (Helen).

Era is survived by her children, Janice Meredith (Cla, Jr.), Carolyn Vivas (Dwight), and Mark Walker; Grandchildren, Rachel Meredith (Curt), Katie Meredith Baker (Corey), Cla Meredith III (Natalie), and Kristen Schmaeman (Allan); Great grandchildren, Brenan, Erin, Emy, Layla, Jax, TaraWren, Anniston, Addy, Harper, Wally, Averi, McKenna, Ainsley, Ashtyn, Wesley, sister-in-law Sherry Clay (Ralph); and many nieces and nephews.

 A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911Birdsong Rd, S. Prince George, Va, with pastor Josh Cottrell officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Era to the church, Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 19600 Halloway Avenue, S Chesterfield, Va 23803.
