Erich U. Vaughan, 51, of Petersburg, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2010 at John Randolph Medical Center. Born in Petersburg, he was the son of the late William Earl Vaughan, and was preceded in death by a brother, Carlton E. Vaughan. Erich was a member of Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church and Swift Creek Baptist Church. He loved going to church, the Special Olympics, and bowling, but especially the Washington Redskins, and the Atlanta Braves. Erich is survived by his mother, Susie M. Vaughan; his sisters, Betsy Neblett and husband David of Hopewell, and Helen Smith and husband, Mike of Indianapolis; two nephews, Michael Smith and Robert Ruxer (Torrie); a niece, Erin Hagedorn (Rick); a great niece, Calista Ruxer; a great nephew, Dylan Ruxer; and a host of extended family and friends. The family would like to give special thanks to the Good Neighbor Homes for their compassion and support. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, December 23, 2010 in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
