Ernestine Harris

Ernestine Strange Harris, 83 of Henrico, VA, formerly of Colonial Heights, VA passed away peacefully on December 31, 2016 after a long battle with lymphoma. She was the daughter of the late Charles Andrew and Minnie Short Strange and was also preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters. Ernestine was a long-time employee of the Richmond-Petersburg Turnpike before retiring and moving to Richmond to care for her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Roy C. Harris, her daughter, Mary Harris Jones (Rick), Meredith and Matthew (grandchildren). Ernestine was a life-time member of West End Baptist Church. Ernestine (Ernie, Mama, Grandma) was the most loving and sweet lady who loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. We will miss her so much and the love that she had for all of us. Mary would like to give special thanks to her cousins, friends, Gentiva Home Health, and Hospice for their support through this journey. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Park Chester, Virginia with the Reverend Dr. Mark Hughes officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to West End Baptist Church, 6506 Boydton Plank Road, N. Dinwiddie, Virginia 23803 or to a charity of your choice.
