Ethel Peden

Ethel Harris Peden passed away after a short illness with her family by her side on June 2, 2022. Ethel was born on October 5, 1921 to John and Kitty Harris of Isle of Wight County. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Andrew Peden; brothers, Morris and John Raymond; sisters, Mary and Sallie; sons, Opha and Randy Peden; and one sweet grandson, Michael Peden. Ethel is survived by her three children, Dianne Gardner and her husband John, Gwendolyn Journey, and John Peden and Arlene; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and special nephew, Gordon Nelson. She was the oldest member of Mill Swamp Baptist Church and was also a member of Harrowgate Baptist Church for over 50 years. She retired from Brown and Williamson Tobacco after 33 years of service. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 with visitation to take place one our prior, beginning at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, Chester.
