Eugene (Corky) Nixon Berry, 83, of Chesterfield passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2011. He was the son of the late Jesse H. and Eugenia Phillips Berry and was preceded in death by three brothers, Branch Berry, Jesse Berry, and Hunter Berry, and a sister, Lois Kirkland. Mr. Berry retired from Life of Virginia Insurance Company. He was a member of Kenwood United Methodist Church, Dinwiddie, and former member of High Street United Methodist Church, Petersburg, where he was a member of their choirs, and he enjoyed singing bass in various barbershop quartets. Corky was a veteran of the United States Navy and was a door gunner on a PBY Catalina Seaplane. He liked to fish, spend time with his family, and never missed his grandsons' baseball and soccer games. Survivors include his wife, Ann Perdue Berry; two daughters, Karen B. Shipman and husband, Kent of Richmond and Allison B. Patrick and husband, Walter of Chesterfield; two grandchildren, Walter O'Neal Patrick and Aaron Cole Patrick both of Chesterfield; brother, Hartwell P. Berry of Chesterfield; sister-in-law, Thelma P. Berry of Colonial Heights. Funeral Service will be held Friday, November 18, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Jim Burton and the Reverend Pamela R.Seeley officiating. Interment Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, Va.
